Kierland Golf Club

Unlike many other Scottsdale courses, Kierland Golf Club's three nines sprawl across rolling hills without a single cactus in sight. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations.

The Acacia/Mesquite Course begins with Kierland's signature nine. Acacia features gently sloping fairways, all of which are bordered by bunkers. The last four holes are the most memorable, particularly the club’s signature finishing hole. It’s a tricky par-5 with water all along the left side of the fairway to the bunker-protected green. It’s truly an accomplishment just to make par. Acacia is a formidable challenge, but many would argue that the Mesquite nine is more difficult.

The Mesquite nine may be the flattest of the three, but it is also the toughest. The par-4 sixth hole is especially demanding. The challenges of Mesquite are balanced by the player-friendly nature of the Ironwood nine. There is some strategic mounding, but overall the links design is very approachable. The course ends with its signature hole- a classic risk-reward opportunity with a lake to the right and sand traps to the left.
